Frequently Asked Questions about Tape / Cassette / Film to Digital Transfers

1. How long does the transfer take?

The time it takes to complete a tape transfer can vary depending on several factors, including the length and condition of the tape, as well as our current workload. However, as a general guideline, we typically aim to complete most transfers within 5 days on small orders, and over 1 week on big orders.

2. How would you describe the quality of the transfer?
How well the transfer turns out depends on the original tape's quality. We do our best to ensure the highest quality transfer.

3. How do I get my tapes to you?
You can either send them to our address or deliver in person. If delivering in person, please get in touch first before turning up. If posting please use special or recorded delivery and please let us know that you will be posting tapes to us. You can download the order form here

4. Why doesn't my USB Stick work on my TV?

Smart TVs usually require the USB stick to be formatted in a specific file system i.e Fat32 or exFat. You might need to reformat the USB or check your TV's manual for compatible formats and file systems.

An alternative option would be to connect a HDMI cable from laptop and plug into the back of your TV or stream the files from your laptop.

5. Do you fix damaged  or mouldy tapes?

Small repairs Yes! Tapes can get a layer of mould on them. Small spots of mould on VHS tapes, should still be ok to transfer. Mould on smaller tapes like hi 8 tapes,  or mini dv is a bit harder to solve, due to the small width of the tape. This can cause the tape to stick and break when trying to repair. We can certainly try to remove and clean the mould from the tape, but can't always guarantee what the end result will be like.

6. How do I pay?
After the job is completed, you will receive an invoice via email

which you can pay online.
